About Lancashire
Situated in the North West of England, Lancashire is a large
county consisting chiefly of Preston, Lancaster, Blackburn, Burnley and
Blackpool.
Lancashire is famous for its sporting tradition, housing
many teams that were founder members of the Football League. Football is indeed
the main Lancashire sport, with local teams Blackburn Rovers FC, Preston North End FC, Burnley FC, Blackpool FC, Accrington Stanley FC and Morecambe FC all battling it out for
local supremacy, some more effectively than others.
Preston North End FC was a founder member of the Football League and
their home at Deepdale fittingly houses the National Football Museum. The
club has a distinguished heritage with many top quality players having worn the
lilywhite jersey, above all the legendary Sir Tom Finney.
