About Staffordshire
Historically, including the towns of Wolverhampton, Walsall and West Bromwich, Staffordshireis now a much smaller
county that includes several large towns and two cities,
Stoke-on-Trent and Lichfield,
with the county council based in the town of
Stafford.
Areas of natural beauty include the Staffordshire
Moorlands to the north, Cannock Chase
to the south and part of the National Forest
is within the county.
Business in the region includes the manufacture of
pottery in the Stoke-on-Trent region and the brewery trade, in particularCoors who operate a large facility and brewing
museum in Burton-Upon-Trent, and the Britannia
building society who have their headquarters in
Leek.
Engineering vehicle giants JCB have been major
employers in Staffordshire, dating back to the 1940s and have their headquarters
at Rocester and a factory in
Uttoxeter, having been formed by Uttoxeter-born Joseph Cyril Bamford.
