About Aberdeen
Aberdeen is one of Scotland’s largest cities and is home to
the University of Aberdeen and the Robert Gordon University. It is known by many
as the Granite City and the Silver City due to much Aberdeen property being
constructed of grey granite. Many Aberdeen jobs have been created by its oil industry,
earning it the title Oil Capital of Europe. The deposits found in the North Sea
have contributed to Aberdeen’s economic prosperity since the late 20th century.
The significance of this area is given even more prominence by the fact that
Aberdeen houses the second largest heliport in the world.
