About Liverpool
Liverpool, the 2008 European Capital of Culture,
is a port city in the North West of England. It is home to the world-famous 1960s
band The Beatles, who had 17 number one hits
in the UK as well as huge success abroad.
A key feature of Liverpool is its waterfront, which was designated a
UNESCO World Heritage site in 2004. Liverpool also has three universities,
two successful football teams and a major international airport
