Photographic Competition

Welcome to the UKPlus Photo competition, which offers you the chance to win a regular £1,000 prize for the best photo taken anywhere in the UK.

We can now reveal the winner of our first UKPlus Photographic Competition and the nine other images which made it to the shortlist.

The winning shot, Dawn Rising, was taken by Andrew Wheatley, of Berrynarbor, Devon. Andrew, a 40-year-old amateur photographer, wins a cheque for £1,000.

Judge Robert Rathbone, a professional photographer who selected Dawn Rising from a shortlist made up of the highest rated photos, said: "The picture is well composed and very atmospheric. It appears to be technically excellent and it looks very crisp. Well done to Andrew. The other photo which stood out for me was Hitchcock’s Brunette, by Paul Seraphim Sika."

We’d like to thank everyone who entered the competition. An incredible 5558 images were submitted in total and we received 165,595 votes.

Details of the next competition will be announced on the site shortly. Once again there will be a £1,000 first prize up for grabs.
