About Sunderland
Sunderland was granted city status in 1992 and is located in
the county of Tyne and Wear in the North East of England.The main Sunderland sport is undoubtedly football, with Sunderland AFC flying the flag for the city,
regularly selling out their 49,000 capacity home, the Stadium of Light. The
club competes nationally for league and cup honours, and has a fierce rivalry
with neighbouring Newcastle United

Church is one of the area’s oldest buildings. It has been a place of
worship in Sunderland dating back to the 1700s. Another feature of the city is its unique National Glass Centre which has
been fascinating visitors since 1998, motivating the exploration of ideas
through the use of glass.
